CSOs 4 Tailings Justice

We are committed to building democratic community power to address the dangers of mine waste, including tailings facilities.

For the words of the young rapper in the first song, see below:

In Jagersfontein a town once in pain. A disaster struck, leaving scars that would remain forever. September 11, 2022, a day of fate. A dam burst and mudslidge sealed the community.

Lives lost, homes destroyed and dreams laid bare, the community suffered the trauma. The river Wolwas once pure and bright is now a toxic stream and poisonous sight.

We the community of Jagersfontein resilient and strong, endured the consequences where hope did belong, despite the challenges we stood as one, seeking justice and a brighter dawn to come.

We remember the art of Jagersfontein’s past, the diamond mines, a treasure to behold, but also a reminder of stories untold.

So let us honor the victims, and those who survived, the courage and strength.

In solidarity, we stand supporting the quest for justice unbound. May our voices be heard and our story be told and our resilience a legacy to hold. May God Bless Jagersfontein now and forever.
